Gorgeous Watercolor Floral Pattern Antique 1930’s Silk Chiffon Floral Dress Bias Cut - Made by the NRA | XS - S

Gorgeous and equally special, antique 1930’s silk chiffon, bias cut, watercolor-esque floral pattern dress with a romantic, puff shoulder sleeve. Made by the NRA, came with a style number and the original tag. Exceptionally architected, with so much added detail to the design. I can now completely see the difference in home-made pieces (which are still heavenly) and those made by the skilled workers in the NRA. The agency only existed from 1933-1935, and it was part of “The New Deal,” which Franklin D Roosevelt created to stabilize the economy after the Great Depression. Such a cool tid-bit of info that comes with this stunning maxi dress. Fully lined in what feels like very breathable, flesh colored cotton, which changes to netting fabric along the chest through the shoulder - I’m guessing to help absorb any possible sweat. 4 metal snap in buttons along the side. The backside contains a cowl neckline. The skirt is topped with tendrils of chiffon placed vertically, which gracefully flutter as you walk and live in this piece. This dress can be worn with the cowl detail in front or in back. Worn in back for the photos.

Condition:
Great antique condition. The silk is soft, and sturdy. The lining is fully in tact. I’ve added some cut out floral Alencon lace appliqué’s to cover small pin holes. There might be a couple that I missed - certainly not visible to the onlooker. 

Side note** while this dress did come with an original NRA tag that has the style number and the writing on it is perfectly visible…I carefully took it off before giving this beauty a quick soak in cold water. I didn’t want to ruin the tag. The tag was in one spot for some-time, a spot visible to me everyday. Today, I went to look in that same spot - the tag is gone somehow. If I ever find-it, I’ll apply it back on if I happen to find it before this is sold. A lost tag doesn’t take away from the true history of this incredible garment!
