Angelic, elegant, antique 1930's bright white silk organdy maxi dress, designed by: B. ALTMAN & CO / Fifth Avenue | New York is nothing short of extraordinary.This stunner - dare I say - is in immaculate condition, especially considering it’s near 100 years age. I could not find any visible imperfections - but keep in mind this is still an antique garment. The silk organdy fabric is incredibly sturdy, which showcases a gown that contains a lot of life left. You can move and groove in this dress without having to worry about causing any splits (but at the same time - keep in mind that it IS nearly 100 years of age so please do not go overboard).
Designed with a feminine V-shaped neckline that is finished with a romantic ruffled trim which extends around through the backside. Constructed with short sleeves, each adorned with matching delicate ruffled trim along each arm opening. A functional metal zipper sits discreetly beneath the left arm pit, operating smoothly without resistance. Lined with an under dress made from silk which contains thin shoulder straps, allowing the upper part of the bodice and sleeves to carry a sultry sheer appearance. The elevated empire waist gives way to a soft flowing skirt, showcasing a gown finished with a beautifully gathered, prairie-style ruffle hemline, fit with about a foot of lightly pleated fabric between the lower hem.
My personal favorite detail is the exquisite, gossamer floral embroidered silk organdy fabric - fit for an angel - lending this beauty a whimsical, heavenly appeal. Perfect for a bridal shower, engagement celebration, or rehearsal dinner, this timeless treasure transitions effortlessly into spring and summer luncheons and garden picnics.
For cooler seasons, style this beauty with a sumptuous black Persian lamb fur coat featuring a luxurious mink collar and matching cuffs, elegant stockings, and antique Edwardian crochet lace gloves for an opulent, old-world ensemble.
