My favorite re-worked antique dress set yet, a 1930’s silk taffeta onyx gown with a crazy unique design. I’ve never seen an antique 1930’s dress set with a bolero constructed from connected dots coupled with a quintessential 1930’s mermaid style silhouette with matching dotted fabric. I sourced a bag of 6 various oversized, glistening antique Edwardian mother buttons and attached them to the chic square neckline. The photos do not do the buttons justice unfortunately, this piece is meant to be admired in person. These buttons add so much dimension and give this garment an experiential element as the buttons play on each of the 6 senses. This gown features a classic empire waistline, 14 black metal clasp ins on the left side, all in tact and very easy to use. The skirt contains a triple layer of fabrics: silk taffeta lining, topped with silk chiffon, with the dotted fabric on top. The backside also has a very unique design that looks almost modern, yet its clear modern pieces derived their design inspiration from these 1930’s patterns.I spent many hours restoring the dress to near perfection, leaving the gown in an excellent antique condition. Seen on XS pinned. Best fits S or M, please go off measurements to ensure a proper fit.
Condition: Excellent antique condition: 9.5/10. Couple of TINY pin holes near the chest area, those the only imperfections I found. Preserved condition reflected in price.
